Dubai's Ruler has set out the next stage of the city's 2040 Urban Master Plan, with new housing and easier commuting among the top priorities. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, detailed phase two of the long-term strategy. The master plan calls for developing a '20-minute city' - allowing residents access to 80 per cent of their daily needs and destinations within 20 minutes on foot or by bicycle. There are further plans to grow food within the city limits. The government has already invested in companies using vertical farming to create produce. “Today, we have a clear vision for the development of Dubai’s urban infrastructure and housing sector until 2040," Sheikh Mohammed said in a news release. Six months ago when he was taking admission in a computer engineering course at a college in Pune’s Akurdi area, 19-year-old Atharva Ingle did not know that his batch would be a historic one. The Akola resident is one of 65 students enrolled in the Marathi-language course at the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), the only college in the country that has recorded full admission in its new division to teach engineering in the mother tongue. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year and covered under the National Education Policy, the plan to teach engineering to students in their mother tongue was rolled out last year by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 19 selected engineering colleges across the country. “This emphasis on mother tongue as the medium of instruction will instill confidence in students from poor, rural and tribal backgrounds,” Modi had said. JEE Main aspirants who have registered for UPTAC BTech counselling can check the cut-offs on the official website-- uptac.admissions.nic.in. The UP BTech college-wise cut-off scores include opening and closing ranks of each category and gender. Candidates can check the UP BTech cut-off by selecting desired round, institute and category. The two rounds of UP BTech counselling process have been conducted so far for both home-state candidates and other state candidates. The Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) is conducting the BTech counselling process on behalf of AKTU Lucknow. "The allotment of seats through counselling will be carried out strictly in accordance with the merit of the candidate, subject to the order of preference given for the seats and availability of seat in the category," UPTAC said in a statement.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the CUET 2023 notification. Once released, the same will be available on its official website- cuet.nta.nic.in. The notice will be for those candidates seeking admissions to the undergraduate programmes (UG) to various colleges through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Candidates are required to keep visiting the official website for latest updates and information. It is also advised that the candidates should check and go through the detailed eligibility criteria before applying for CUET 2023. The eligibility criteria will be set by NTA, but the course specific criterias will be set by the participating colleges and universities. The basic eligibility criteria for applying to CUET 2023 is that the applicant must have passed Class 10+2 from a recognised board. The application form will be released shortly by the NTA. Candidates will need to register themselves and pay the required application fees.

The Delhi University will hold postgraduate admissions through the Common University Entrance Test from the next academic cycle. A resolution for this was passed by its Executive Council on Thursday. Last month, the Academic Council of the university passed a proposal to change the admission pattern for postgraduate programmes. Under the existing system, 50 per cent of admissions are done directly from students who did their bachelor's degrees from the university based on merit in their qualifying examinations. The change in the admission pattern of postgraduate programmes was proposed by a 10-member committee formed to suggest a strategy for PG admissions from 2023-2024. The remaining 50 per cent of seats are currently filled based on candidates' ranks in the DU postgraduate entrance test.
