How cloning woolly mammoths could save the world

Image
Before the end of the decade, ponderous woolly mammoths could be traipsing across the tundra once again. Driven to extinction about 10,000 years ago, the 15-tonne animals could soon be kicking up the permafrost — if a company called Colossal has its way. It is a process known as “de-extinction”, and researchers have been working on it for several years. Eleven sets of classified files were taken from Mr Trump's Florida estate on 8 August, according to the FBI. Mr Trump is being investigated for potentially mishandling documents. US presidents must transfer all of their documents and emails to a government agency called the National Archive - and the FBI is investigating whether Mr Trump improperly handled records by taking them from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after he left office in January 2021.
